From May 19 to 26, 2024, the ’’ Education Past The Nation’’ project was held, which brought 44 young people, for a youth exchange, between the ages of 18 and 28 in Chania.
The project was aimed at providing a space for immigrant youth to express themselves on the issues and experiences they face and help decrease intolerance, increasing respect and social inclusion.
The activities are based on a non-formal methodology of learning and skills development.
’’It was a wonderful trip that led me to learn even more about other cultures and different points of view. It was an experience that helped me a lot to improve my English language and certainly to learn more about the subject matter. I am very happy to have participated and look forward to taking part in another Erasmus+ project’’ - Nicole
’’During the week in Crete I had a very good time. The activities were interesting and I was particularly stimulated by the multicultural atmosphere of those days. I will definitely aim to have another experience like this when I get the chance!’’ - Nicolo
’’Having participated in this intercultural exchange was a wonderful experience, I have only positive comments about it.
The people who participated in the exchange were all very sociable and I was able to establish a wonderful relationship with all of them. The activities conducted were very well managed: explained in a way that was understandable for everyone, even for those like me who are not very familiar with English; there was the right balance between project-related activities and free time. In addition, the subject matter was made interesting and engaging through various interactive and group activities.
The environment was very welcoming and the camp staff are great, sunny people, like a big family.
I highly recommend this experience to those who want to make new acquaintances, create new relationships and see a new place while delving into some important topical issues.
I personally would do it again without thinking twice, it was an unforgettable and irreplaceable experience that not only made me live some magical moments, but also helped me improve my English, making me familiar with the language, and made me acquire new knowledge.’’ - Giorgia
’’Thanks to Eurodesk, I had the opportunity to participate in a week-long youth exchange in Chania, on the island of Crete, where, together with participants from Poland, Lithuania, Greece, Romania and, of course, Italy, we dealt with a very important and topical issue: inclusion and integration of migrants into society.
We had very practical and fun group activities, which allowed us to develop practical and transversal skills in a dynamic and engaging way. The city is very beautiful, full of must-see attractions. Spending a week with people from all over Europe allowed me to learn more about other countries’ cultures, thanks in part to the wonderful intercultural nights where each group shared traditions and cultures from their own countries.
The exchange even allowed me to make real new friends. I would definitely do the experience again, as it is synonymous with learning and fun. I wanted to thank the Eurodesk office for complete assistance before, during and after the exchange.’’ - Mazen
