On 17 and 18 October 2024 the URBACT National Campus took place, an event organized by the National URBACT Point of ANCI and hosted by the Municipality of Arezzo at the Palazzo della Confraternita dei Laici. The meeting was attended by twenty-five Italian municipalities belonging to the Action Planning Network (APN) networks, in addition to the winners of the recent call for Innovative Transfer Networks. The municipality of Cinisello saw itself as one of the protagonists of this day, presenting itself as the leader of the U.R. Impact project.
The meeting aimed to involve APN network partners at national level, offering tools and practical approaches to prepare for the implementation of Integrated Action Plans (IAP), with the aim of promoting positive transformations in participating Municipalities.
The first day focused on strengthening the skills of those present, focusing on how to implement the Plans and on analysing the risks and opportunities associated with the process. The importance of maintaining an integrated and participatory approach during the planning, implementation and monitoring phases was also stressed, so that stakeholders become key elements for future project actions. During the discussions, the crucial role of the Europe and European Policy offices within the Municipalities was also highlighted, reiterating the need to establish and enhance these offices as a strategic resource for all the entities involved.
The second day focused on how to gain access to resources and funding for projects, with a particular focus on integrating sustainability into processes. The concluding session of the day offered participants the opportunity to experience "Climate Fresk", an innovative educational tool aimed at providing quality climate education. Participants had the opportunity to participate in an interactive training course on climate change, structured through group activities. This thematic workshop, designed to explore the origins and consequences of climate change, used a practical and collaborative approach.
This experience has helped participants to gain a better understanding of how each person can contribute, both individually and collectively, to mitigating the effects of climate change. Ideas have also emerged to develop local initiatives for green transition, emission reduction and sustainable practices in line with the objectives of the URBACT program.
