Values European project: final conference at La Sapienza University of Rome

On Friday, September 29, 2023, the final conference of the Values (Valorizing Lives & Understanding European (hi)Stories) project was held at La Sapienza University of Rome, a project that aimed to conduct an investigation into the issue of racial discrimination in the Europe of totalitarianism and to stimulate reflection on discrimination today.
The two-year project was funded by the European CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) program.
The partners who took part in this project are: Sapienza Innovazione Consortium of Rome (Project Lead Partner), the Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo, the Sturzo Institute of Rome, Lorand Eotvos University of Budapest (Hungary), the University of Bucharest (Romania) and the University of Kaunas (Lithuania).
The outcome of the project was the creation of a traveling photographic exhibition in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Photography: after the opening on March 25, 2023 at the Pertini Cultural Center in Cinisello Balsamo, the exhibition was set up in all the other cities of the partnership: Rome, Budapest, Bucharest and Kaunas.
The final conference was introduced by Prof. Luca Micheletta, Professor at Sapienza University of Rome and scientific coordinator of the Project. The speakers were: Augusto D’Angelo (Professor of Contemporary History), Marica Gagliardi ( Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo), Alessandra Gatta (Istituto Luigi Sturzo), Andrea Griffante (Vytautas Magnus University of Kaunas), Cezar Gheorghe (CESI, University of Bucharest), Imre Tarafás (Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest). Edlira Titini (University of Durres) and Andrea Ventura (Liceo Aristofane - Sapienza University of Rome) were also guests of the meeting.

The final conference was an excellent opportunity both to emphasize in front of the audience of students how important it is to continue to raise awareness among the younger generations on the issue of discrimination, a topical issue even today, and to reiterate the values of inclusion and equality on which the European Union is now founded.
