What is DiscoverEU?

It is an initiative of European Union that gives you the opportunity to discover Europe through learning experiences. You will travel principally by train (some exceptions are expected, in order to allow people who live on islands or in remote areas to participate), discovering wonderful European landscapes and its variety of small and big towns. Youngsters can participate in the two candidacy sessions that take place every year. Selected candidates are rewarded with a travel pass.

If you are 18 and you are a citizen of the European Union, DiscoverEU gives you the opportunity to travel to fully exploit freedom of movement in the EU, discover the diversity of Europe, appreciate its cultural wealth and history and get in touch with people coming from the whole continent. Moreover, DiscoverEU allows you to develop precious skills for your future, for instance, independency, trust and opening towards other cultures.

Can I travel with some friends?
Sure, it’s your decision! You can travel solo or in a group of maximum four friends, as far as they fulfil admissibility conditions. To apply, they’ll have to use your application code. If you want to know more, please consult our FAQs (from question B.5 to B.11).
