SPUR
Name and description of the project:
SPUR – Social PostCovid19 Urban Revitalization
The SPUR project expects the collaboration between 7 local authorities from 5 different european countries that support youth and aged marginalized people and work with migrants or social-excluded people.
These are the citizens who suffered the most during the Covid-19 pandemic; apart from this, episoded of urban solidarity took place in the middle of pandemic restrictions and lockdown.
Even though, the pandemic consequences are still strong felt nowadays, the project is the perfefct occasion to make that residence municipalities do a mapping of citizens needs, exchanging good practices and developing other initiatives to strengthen the neighbour socialisation.
Duration, programme (Cerv o Erasmus+) and partners:
The project started in January 2024 and will end in December 2026. Financed by the European Commission through the CERV programme, it sees the collaboration between:
1. European Association for Local democracy ALDA (French);
2. Fondazione Comunitaria Agrigento e Trapani (Italy);
3. Città Metropolitana di Milano (Italy);
4. Commune d’Etterbeek (Belgium)
5. Harghita County Council (Romania);
6. Grad Vodnjan-Dignano (Croatia)
7. Municipio de Vila do Conde (Portugal)
Specific objectives:
The project aims to develop more sustainaible cities and reduce inequalities, making reference to SDGs 10 and 11.
So the main objectives are:
• Reflect on the Covid-19 impact in local communities between aged people and youht ;
• Social re-integration of migrants and women;
• to establish transnational cooperation between communities at european level for a learning and exchange of good practices;ue
• To find long-term sustainable solutions to build resilient communities;
• To create a network between citizens, associations and local authorities inside local territories.
Project activities:
the consortium will organize 4 events open to the public and the exchange of good practices in Vicenza, Milan, Grad Vodnjan-Dignano and Brussels, since January 2024 until December 2025.
At the same time, "local paths" will be developed after having understood the local needs and mapped the local stakeholders interested in helping young and aged people to re-connect with their communities.
Project result:
The result of the project is to create town twinning between different european cities that will learn one from each other different realities and challenges, exchanging good practices during international events open to the public.

In recent months, the Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo has continued to work on the Spur project – Post-Covid Social Urban Revitalization, with the aim of developing more sustainable cities and reducing inequalities.
