Digital Civic Participation

Name and description of the project: Digital Civic Participation aims to innovate the process of civic education and increase the participation of young people in their communities, empowering the target group to address the challenges of civic participation in post-COVID-19 era and focusing on sustainable solutions for partner cities and their local communities.

Duration, programme, funding (Cerv or Erasmus+) and partnership: The project runs for two years, from May 2022 to May 2024 and was funded by the European CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) programme. The Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo collaborates with the Greek leading association IRTEA, the Romanian association POINT, the Municipality of Starachowice (Poland) and the Lithuanian Municipality of Klaipeda.

Specific objectives of the project: the specific objectives of the project are:
- to analyse, monitor and research existing tools and methodologies of digital civic participation;
- to present these tools in an easy way, with practical examples, making them easier - to understand and more accessible to EU citizens;
- educate, train and empower both young citizens and municipal employees on digital participation tools and concepts such as e-democracy and participatory approaches for local governance;
- promote online engagement and ultimately increase the levels of participation of EU citizens;
- reflect on the impact the pandemic has had on the life of local communities and the forms of civic participation that have developed during the COVID-19 crisis.

Project Activities: The planned activities are:
- Data collection on digital participation in Italy.
- 2 days of workshops to analyse with participants the knowledge and use of digital participation tools.
- International meeting in Athens to share and discuss the results of the research and workshop.
- 2 days of woekshops with young people and PA employees for the knowledge and implementation of digital participation tools.
Participation in the Young People’s Hackathon in Greece.

Final product: A booklet collecting the digital tools for participation.

Workshops for Digital Civic Participation Project

On April 19, 2023, two Workshops were held for the "Digital Civic Participation" project at Il Pertini. The project is co-funded by the European CERV program and aims to innovate the process of civic education of young people and increase their participation in the choices of their community.

International Meeting in Athens

On Friday 2nd December 2022 we were guests at the international event of the Digital Civic Participation project in Athens.

Workshops in schools

Two workshops for the Digital Civic Participation project were done in October with high school students from the Falk High School in Cinisello Balsamo.Retour ligne automatique The activities were done with two groups of students attending third and fourth grades following the non-formal education method.
