BASE - Be Active Shape Europe!

Name and description of the project: The BASE - Be Active Shape Europe project aims to increase the participation of young citizens to enable them to contribute to political and social life.
Duration, programme, funding (Cerv or Erasmus+) and partnership: Financed by the European Commission within the ’Europe for Citizens’ programme, it was presented by the Greek organisation Kedith, which has the lead role; the other project partners are the Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo, the Municipality of Santa Maria de Feira (Portugal), the association ’Varna - European Youth Capital’ (Bulgaria), and the Mladinski Cultural Centre in Slovenia.
Specific objectives of the project:
- Rebuilding the bond of trust in the spirit of the European Union;
- Activation of young people’s interest in political life;
- To create moments of structured dialogue between young people and political decision-makers.
Project Activities:
- Structured dialogue for each partner: with young people, civil society, local authorities and stakeholders in the European Union for the next period 2021-2027.
- National workshop for each partner: aims to create between policy makers, stakeholders and different relevant policy issues together with young people a "guide" for support to democratic interaction, direct democracy and youth involvement.
- Transnational Conference: activation of youth participation based on the principles of non-formal education. Participants will learn how to meet, accept and share ideas and show interest in cooperation and communication with citizens of other European countries.
- Transnational workshop in Thessaloniki: the project Be Active - Shape Europe will be the basis for future initiatives and actions between the cities involved, on the topics covered or possibly on other topics of common interest.
