On 22 May 2024, a training day envisaged by the European project "You(th) can Thrive" took place at Villa Ghirlanda.
As it coincided with the closing of the Universal Civil Service volunteering programme that started in May 2023, the volunteers of the Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo were invited because the project aims to involve those who are about to start working or have recently started, with the aim of making them understand the importance of a positive working environment and a proper balance with their private lives.
Coordinated by the staff of the Europe Office, the young people carried out a first activity in which they were invited to answer, from their phones, questions related to the 8 key competences that are fundamental in a working environment.
In the second part, they were divided into 4 groups to do an activity in which they had to describe how they developed the various skills and in what context, on various posters, which each group then briefly presented, explaining the topics covered.
After this activity, a self-evaluation was carried out by the volunteers regarding their competences through a form with a score from 1 to 5 for each skill, with the aim of making them more aware of which areas they feel they have improved in and those in which they can still improve in the future.
Afterwards, there was an introduction by two experts in the Job Offer-Demand Crossing Service of AFOL (Agency for Training, Orientation and Employment) of Cinisello Balsamo, concerning the world of work in many of its aspects, such as how to build one’s CV, what it looks like to search locally, and other very useful notions for young people entering the world of work.
The young people were very interested, as it is a topic that directly involves them considering the current situation of the working environment in our country.
